Increasing emotional competence with Qigong

Among other effects, the regular practice of Qigong also has a lasting effect on one’s feelings and sense of mental calm. Dirk Ruppik regards the basic mental and physical attitude as beneficial to the development of emotional competence, i.e. dealing positively with one’s own feelings and with those of other people. In particular he views work with the middle Dantian or heart centre and with the organs as ways of harmonising the emotions and transforming them into a »state of healing«. He presents three exercises which are especially suited for this purpose.
