Shisanshi – The 13 basic techniques of Taijiquan

The 13 basic techniques together form a key aspect of Taijiquan. Many styles and schools have their own differing interpretations of these techniques. Jan Silberstorff explains their significance and means of application in the tradition of the Chen Style. In this first part he examines the four foundation techniques of Peng, Lu, Ji and An; these are followed in the next issue by Cai, Lie, Zhou, Kao, Teng, Shan, Zhe, Kong and Huo.
