Concentrated Taijiquan Information in Chinese
A report on the first international Taijiquan trainer course in Taibei/Taiwan
By Dr. Hermann G. Bohn
In October 2005 the Beijing-based International Taijiquan Federation and the Taiwanese Taijiquan umbrella organisation arranged an international advanced training symposium for Taijiquan teachers. In the course of four days, each with seven and a half hours of teaching, well-known Chinese teachers lectured on training for physical skills in Taijiquan, basic techniques, the international framework of rules for Taijiquan, sport medicine and nutrition, movement science, fighting strategies, English for the martial arts and on doping and the misuse of drugs. The teachers originated from both traditional and strongly competition-oriented circles, and this led to many discussions about the basic orientation of Taijiquan. Dr. Hermann Bohn summarises his impressions as a participant and also recommends Western teachers to visit such events in order to gain an impression of Chinese levels of training.
