Taiji Bailong Ball
A ball game with Taiji-principles
Interview with Professor Bai Rong
Out of his background in Taijiquan and as a boxing trainer, Sports Sciences Professor Bai Rong developed the Taiji Bailong ball game, now practiced by many in China across all age groups. In individual play, the goal is essentially to guide a ball by moving a racket in circular movements in such fashion as to keep it from falling to the ground. Racket and ball are specially made so that this is most easily done via circular movements going outward from the center, thus promoting a type of movement typical of Taiji. With two or more people playing together, the idea is to gently receive the ball before passing it on to the next player. Jan Lewinsky asked the creator of this new sport about how it was developed and the peculiarities it involves as well as his plans to grow the sport.
