Is there a "unity of body, mind and soul"?
An attempt at providing an answer

By Ulf Angerer

The "unity of body, mind and soul” has become something of a slogan in our times, used in various areas to attract people’s attention and also their money. It is seen by many as the ultimate goal in the field of Qigong and Taijiquan, as well. Ulf Angerer has examined this striving for unity and concludes that complete harmony in the sense of the Yijing would mean total disintegration. The points of opposition in the yin and yang halves of the Taiji symbol remind us that opposite poles are always part of the picture here too; in the same way, in both our life and our practice we mature through the constantly occurring disharmonies. Acceptance of this fact opens the way to inner peace.
