Yong Yi Buyong Li
The mind and power in Taijiquan.

By Chen Jumin

It is generally understood that one should not use excessive muscular power in Taijiquan, but the mind instead. However, realizing this in practice it is often far from easy. There is a danger of drifting into a limpness where the movements lack any kind of energy. Chen Jumin explains how the term »Yi« refers to a perceptible power that unites the movements of the body into effective action. He presents a variety of practice methods in which one can work with specific mental images to train Yi and simultaneously to relax the body or to build up internal strength.
