Hun Yuan Chen Style Taijiquan
Feng Zhiqiangs synthesis of old traditions. By Ahmad Sarafnia
One of the most famous representatives of Taijiquan is Feng Zhiqiang, lineage holder of the 18th generation of Chen style Taijiquan, whose abilities as a martial artist are acknowledged far beyond the borders of China and the boundaries of the Taijiquan community. Ahmad Sarafnia, who has experienced Feng Zhiqiang as an outstanding teacher, describes the special features of the style he has developed and how it grew out of Feng Zhiqiangs own biography. Feng came to Beijing as a teenager and there became the pupil of the renowned doctor and Xingiquan teacher Hu Yaozhen and of Chen Fake, one of the most outstanding persons in the history of Taijiquan. As the heir of these two great teachers, Feng Zhiqiang combined traditional Chen style Taijiquan with the energy work of Hunyuan Qigong.
