Earning a Living for Beginners

What freelance teachers need to know. By Thomas Bannenberg

Only a few of those who teach Qigong and Taijiquan have completed specific vocational training. And even those who have completed a special training course are mostly only prepared for their own teaching activities and not, however, for the taxation laws and insurance obligations their profession brings with it. So as to close this information gap, Thomas Bannenberg, who has looked into this thematic for over twelve years, presents in a series of articles the most important points which need to be considered in freelance teaching. He will then go into those issues which can arise even before the start of the first course: claimable tax deductions for training costs, business registration and advertising as well as necessary insurance, including the still existing obligatory pension insurance for freelance teachers. This series will be continued in the next issue with advice on profit and loss computation and tax returns.
