Selfawareness and Social Competence
Taijiquan beyond division by style. By Georges Saby
Within the European Taiji-Scene there are endless discussions and arguments about who practices the most »authentic« Taijiquan. For example can a certain way still be considered Yang-Style or are others Taijiquan at all? Over the last 25 years Georges Saby has trained with many Taijiquan-, Baguazhang- and Qigong teachers and immersed himself in different styles and forms. By learning these different approaches he became closer to the principles of Taijiquan. Therefore he recommends not to cling to superficial variations but to look for the real essence of this art with different teachers. Using the example of the »Single Whip« he introduces the principle of cracking power and of different interpretations and styles. He also refers to the healing effect of this movement.
