Outer Worlds in Taijiquan
An Interpretation of Taiji-Principles for Lessons. By Klemens J. P. Speer
Klemens J. P. Speer has classified the variety of Taiji-principles which appear in literature and while learning from different teachers according to five major principles. This structure is based on the terms »sinking«, »raising up«, »centering«, »flow« and »letting go«. He illustrates each of these basic principles with more related terms and appropriate quotes from the classical writings of Taijiquan. He uses pictures to aid practical use while training as well as opportunities for a transfer to everyday life to help trainees and trainers in their practical learning. Thereby it becomes clear, that all principles will only as a unity fully develop their results and thus bring trainees closer to the goals of Taiji. For Klemens Speer these goals lie in uniting with the Dao, the Wuwei i.e. letting go and the De, which means acting from the centre.
