Taijiquan is the Embodiment of Daoist Teaching
Taijiquan, the Product of Daoism Best Adapted to Society.
By Liu Sichuan
Taijiquan is based on Daoist ideas not only in a general sense but in a very concrete way at all levels of training. Liu Sichuan, who learned Taijiquan during his time as a Daoist novice in the Wudang mountains and made it his special area of knowledge, describes the value of Taijiquan in the present. He also comments on the historic development of Taijiquan in the context of Daoist ideology. He concludes that Taijiquan can be considered as a method of Daoist inner alchemy, and at the same time presents an excellent opportunity to give a wider public access to the principles of Daoism.
