The interaction of mental attitude and physical posture

By Lüer Mehrtens

In addition to his training in Taijiquan and Qigong Lüer Mehrtens trained as a psychotherapist. He takes this as the basis to work with the interaction of mental attitude and physical posture in his classes. In addition to that he offers his students therapeutic help which makes use of the possibilities of Qigong and Taijiquan. The flowing alternation from Yin to Yang, the alternating effects of posture, way of movement and mental attitude, and attentiveness for ones self are important aspects of this. The author would like to initiate with this article a further exchange of ideas and a discussion of the psychotherapeutic effects and uses of these Chinese arts.
